MOS Question

Ok so I have been thinking about enlisting into the Army here lately and I have been debating about going active verse reserve. I have not gone and seen a recruiter just yet but I do plan on it I was just hoping to get the answer on here first but, my question is about wanting to be part of the k9 unit if I were to go active. Is it an actual MOS or do you have to become an MP first then apply for it/ get chosen to become a k9 handler? Thanks for any and all answers

It is in the process of becoming its own MOS (31K). At this point, if you really want this MOS, you'll probably have to wait for 31K to open for accessions, which I have heard is in FY14.

Have you heard if it'll be open as an entry level position. From what I understand right now that is an ASI that those that have been in for a while typically get (i could be wrong).

    MOS Question

The most updated information I've heard is that they will first reclass the 31BZ6 and 12BK9 that want it, and then open it to accessions in FY14 if they still need soldiers.
