I'm wondering about the two. my friend was an army ranger but i realy have no clue about the special forces. are they similar or no?
im going to rotc after i enlist so would tht void the ranger and special forces or is it possible to be a officer in those. i know theres a comander for everything but alot would change like my mos for sure and contract.
Rangers are the "shock and awe" force that comes in from nowhere, hits hard, and keeps pounding until the mission is accomplished. Special Forces go in disguise, blend in, and train locals to be a fighting force against an enemy. They are covert, and very low profile: a sign of their success is a slow news day. You could go ROTC and not seek a commission if you wanted a more hands on military experience, but you have a lot of research to do to find what you're looking for. Good luck.
